Challenge Completed

3rd June 2020

PLEASE READ THE FOLLOWING REPORT FROM DANIEL BRYSON WHO TOOK PART IN A CHALLENGE AS A WAY TO RAISE MONEY FOR THE FOODBANK. A HUGE THANK YOU TO DANIEL FOR PARTICIPATING IN THIS CHALLENGE.

The challenge was originally forwarded to me by a friend who suggested we both have a go at it! The challenge was to run 4 miles every 4 hours, for 24 hours! Trying to stay active over this difficult period has been really important both physically and mentally, so I thought I’d give it a go (although I did question myself several times during each run)!
I started my first one at 12am on Friday 22nd May, then 4am, 8am, 12pm, 4pm and 8pm. Completing the challenge definitely gave me a sense of pride and achievement, but I won’t be in a rush to do it again!

There have been lots of people that have given this a go to help raise money for the NHS and the wonderful work they are doing in such unprecedented circumstances. Both myself and my family appreciate their commitment to fighting COVID-19 and, as we are all aware, there are many other organisations playing their part to support people and communities in such difficult times.

This was part of the reason why I had chosen to donate any money raised from my participation in the challenge to Great Barr Foodbank. The organisation has helped so many people who need support in times of hardship by providing a food source for people to survive, even when life seemed to have a sense of ‘normality’.

Great Barr Foodbank also sits close to home as my Mum has volunteered her time, along with so many others, working selflessly to support people within the community.

I would like to say thank you to all my friends and family who have donated, no matter how big or small to create the amazing sum of £300 it is hugely appreciated. Supporting such a good cause, particularly throughout a global pandemic, has made it worthwhile!

Stay safe!
Daniel Bryson
